How it works

Virtualization divides a physical host into multiple server environments. A VM receives virtual CPUs, memory, storage and network interfaces and runs its own operating system. A hypervisor manages resource allocation. KEYCom confirms the actual platform, available operating systems and allocation model in the offer; this page explains the general VPS model.

Where it helps

Typical uses include websites, APIs, test systems and internal applications. Start with software requirements, data volume, concurrency and availability needs. Workloads differ: a database may depend more on memory and storage latency, while a file service may need capacity and network throughput.

What to consider

Agree vCPU, RAM, usable disk, networking and limits. Specify who handles updates, firewall rules, monitoring and recovery. Snapshots, RAID and backups address different needs. Confirm whether backups are included, retention and restoration procedures; a VPS alone does not make an application redundant.

Getting started

Describe your application, operating system, data and expected load. We agree configuration and administration scope. Plan migration and access cutover before moving data. Acceptance checks server access, the application and agreed recovery procedures. Resource changes, additional IPs and licenses are quoted separately.

Questions and answers

Are VPS and VDS physical servers?

Both names commonly refer to virtual servers. Compare specifications and contract terms. Hosting your own physical hardware is Colocation.

Are automatic backups included?

Confirm schedule, retention, backup location and restoration testing for the actual offer.
